Zanni

MY STORY: As some of you might know, I recently started taking classes in fashion. I am currently taking pattern making and next month I'll be taking draping. So far it's been going well. Our project is to create a pattern, transfer it onto fabric, and sew a fitted dress. I created a bodice pattern and sewed 2 of them already, and now I'm drafting the pattern for the skirt of the dress. I feel that I have learned so much in such a short amount of time and am excited to see where I can apply these skills with future garments I make.

ZANNI'S STORY: Zanni, founded by Suzanne Lewis, is a women's dress line that can take you from a workout, to a meeting, and then to dinner. Suzanne decided to create her brand after an incident of wanting to wear a cotton dress to dinner but also wanted to bike there. She wanted to look presentable at dinner yet be comfortable biking. From there, she knew she had to start Zanni which offers an alternative that is functional yet cute. The dresses are made with luxury performance Italian fabrics that are manufactured sustainably and constructed in Los Angeles ensuring workers a living wage, safety, and overall well-being. After wearing my dress for the first time, I already know it will be a piece that will stay in my closet for years to come because of the easy-to-wear shape and high quality fabric and construction.

Behno

A.P.C. Ruffle Linen Top,  Intentionally Blank Temple Loafer, Behno Lunchbox Crossbody

MY STORY: My last night in San Francisco was spent having a home cooked dinner with my family at my grandmother's house. I haven't visited the Bay Area in almost 6 months so it was nice to see everyone and have Chinese dishes that I grew up eating.

BEHNO'S STORY: Behno was started by Shivam Punjya who visited India to research women's health only to see the poor conditions garment factory workers, of which 90% are women, were put through. He wanted to make a change and partnered with a nonprofit in India to create a new style of garment factory called 'MSA Ethos' in Gujarat. This new kind of factory changes the meaning of garments "made in India" and also improves the way garment workers are treated. They focus on 6 areas relating to garment workers including health, mobility, family planning, women's rights, worker satisfaction and benefits, and eco-consciousness. Not only are they revolutionizing garment making but their products are high-quality and luxurious while providing garment workers with safe working conditions.

Cataract Falls

During my recent visit to San Francisco, I made a day trip to Marin County, home to some of the best hiking trails. Since California is no longer in a drought, my friend Tiffany and I decided to hike to see Cataract Falls. The drive took about 2 hours including getting lost since the GPS directed us to drive through a school but with detailed directions from a man at the school, we made it to the windy and foggy trail head of Cataract Falls. The trail was an easy mile and a half before we stood in front of the running stream of water. Here are a few shots we took along the hike.
